DREAM SPACE FOR THE SELF - DREAM SPACE FOR A DREAM CLIENT
Part A Exercise 1
Part A Exercise 2
In the first exercise, we were required to work in pairs and pick a specific building. Then, we were to determine which among the base plane, vertival and horizontal elements was the most suitable and justify our choice. My partner, Liew Qiao Li, and I have chosen Tartu Rebase Street, Estonia by Atelier Thomas Pucher and Bramberger. We agreed unanimously that this building is a horizontal plane as horizontal element is the dominant element compared to vertical elements or base plane features.
In the second exercise, the same pair is required to create a space consisting of an entrance, a pathway and a focal point using provided kit that has a various building blocks.
Our idea is to make a series of frames placed at different height and position. This series of frames will be of various sizes connected to each other via doors. The hole in the frames will not be obstructed by any other frames in the series despite different position. This will show a clear focal point. The entraces and pathways will be anywhere accesible around it. The design principles used are repitition, rhythm and also unity.
Part B
In Part B, we were to design a dream space for our dream client. I have picked a famous comedian, Rowan Atkinson. The space that I had designed for him is more to a weekend getaway, semi-private.
