- Materiality of Space - An Experiential Exploration 
Task A
 
In this task, we were required to conduct an analysis of a commercial or residential building in groups of 5 that allowed us to
experience and explore most of the building materials covered in the module. The building chosen was Wisma REDHA.
Project 1
- SPACE OUT - THE MATERIAL CUBE


In this project, students are required to make two cubes of 12"x12"x12".

Task B
 

We were required to conduct individual experiential analysis of the material and space. We were to choose a colonial shophouse and elaborate upon how the materials used for construction of that particular building affected the design concept and intention and spatial experiences, exploring:-

  • Thresholds -  the transition between public walkway to private interior: experiential threshold between the
    exterior and the interior of the house

  • Materiality of Light & Shadow - explore how the manipulation of natural and artificial light has effects on
    material’s surface and transforms our perception of materiality and spaces

  • Tacility of materials /; Texture, colour, instalation
