Project 1

FAMOUS PEOPLE, FAMILIAR FACES DIAGRAMMATIC ABSTRACTION

In a group of 5, we are required to produce an introcution and also and analysis video on a selected building, Curutchet House by Le Corbusier.  We are also required to produce a complete set of architectural drawings orf the building. Apart from that, we need to investigate and produce 10 abstract models (10cmx10cmx10cm) from the building.

Project 2b

Retreat House at Fraser's Hill

Throughout this assessment, I have learned to identify modern master architects and their works. I have a better understanding on basic architectural compositions of solids, planes, lines and frames. I have also gained the ability to diagram and analyse architectural work of Le Corbusier.

In this project, students are required to go for a site visit in Fraser;s Hill and are divided into 2 groups for different site, the Paddock and Allan's Water. My group has been assigned the Paddock and are reuqired to conduct site analysis of the physical context, social, cultural and historical issues within the overall site. Then, we split into smaller groups to collect specific data of the given site. My group of five from the first project is incharged of the existing buildings on the site. Final presentation of the site analysis had to be presented digitally and supported by a verbal presentation, which can be accessed on the right.

Before starting our birdwatch tower, students are required to produce five abstract sketches and models individually that inspired them from the site. From the sketches, keywords are identified and is implemented into the design of the birdwatch tower.

In a group of two, with the restriction area of 9m square, the idea of hand-clapping is developed into the birdwatch tower imply for the purpose of bird watching/contemplation and just to enjoy the view. It includes the activities of resting, meditation, observation, viewing and also dancing as my client is a step dancer

This ia an individual project which required students to further develop their project 2A into a retreat house at Fraser's Hill. This retreat must function as habitable architectural spaces to enable the activity associated with living, dining, showering, cooking, storage and such within the built up space of 150sq meter. The relationship between our design and the context is also important in making the retreat unique to its landscape and activity. In this project 2B, we were given 3 tasks which include site analysis, presentation boards and models. We were asked to produce an A1 size for the site analysis and we can work with our partner who was also given the same character in project 2A. Our site analysis shows the complete information that we needed to refer to during our design process.

My client for this project is the same as previous, who is a step dancer. From step dancing, I have extracted some keywords that are used in my design process, synchronisation and percussion

In this project, I have introduced the notions of concepts, program and process in architectural design. I also gained understanding of user specific design requirements. Not only that, I have gained awareness of site specific design and the process of site analysis.

Through this assignment, I am able to generate structure, form and space through architectural conceptualisation, with the emphasis on the user requirement, ergonomics and site responding to develop anarchitectural proposition. I fully understand importance of using the art of crafting and making drawings and models as a critical design tool as part of the design process.
